Capt. Peter Redfern, Director
Capt. Peter has 10 years command experience on oil tankers of all sizes, from 600-300,000 dwt and more than 40 years experience within the marine industry.
The majority of Capt. Peter’s sea going career has been spent on oil tankers with one of the oil majors carrying crude, lubes, bitumen, black/white products and coal. In 1978, he served as a Terminal Safety Officer at Okrika, Nigeria, and returned to Bonny again in 1990, for two years as the permanent Master of a floating storage and topping-off vessel.
After his sailing days he worked as a Marine Superintendent with a leading Singapore Ship Manager, assisting with their preparations for ISM/ISO/ISMA accreditation. Followed by four years in Papua New Guinea as Operations Manager with a Western Tug & Barge shipping and logistics company specializing in oil and gold mining projects.
He has been engaged in Marine Consultancy with various organisations doing activities such as Pre-purchase and Condition Surveys, Project Cargo trans-shipments, Ship deliveries, P&I and Underwriters’ Claims Investigations, including the gathering and preparation of evidence for the Expert Witness. Flag State Inspections, Oil Terminal Safety Audits, Flag State Inspections, Oil Terminal Safety Audits and Technical Advisor to a Petroleum Trading Company.
Capt. Peter has a Master FG Certificate of Competency and has attended courses for Crisis Management, IMO COW + IG, Petroleum, Liquefied Gas, Chemical and Tanker Terminal Safety Courses. He was previously accredited to conduct “SIRE-1” & “SIRE-2” vetting inspections by Texaco and Chevron.
