Activities have included Pre-purchase and Condition Surveys, IMCA CMID Audits, Ship deliveries, On/Off Hire Condition Surveys, P&I Surveys and Underwriters' Claims Investigations, including the gathering and preparation of evidence for the Expert Witness.

  • August 2007 ~ April 2008 - Venezuela Feeder Maritime

Position held: General Manager. This starting Venezuelan container feeder line was running one container vessel in domestic trade between various Venezuelan ports. We had to develop crewing policy, coordinate communication with our clients, the major shipping lines, and maybe more important ISM and ISPS systems. We always had to make sure that our 24 year old vessel's condition was improving and all documents were issued and/or renewed on time. Communication with Customs had to be optimal to get permits for cargo staying longer into the country and the logistics had to be 100% accurate.

  • February 2006 ~ August 2007 - Sargeant Petroleum Ltd.

Position held: Terminal Manager and Project Manager. When my previous company left the Dominican Republic, I worked at the same terminal in order to work fro the company taking over the terminal exploitation.

Besides the duties that I was already carrying out, I started to develop small and larger projects, from tank rebuilding to scrap management.

  •  September 2003 ~ December 2005 - Caribbean Asphalt Corporation S.A.

Position held: Operations Manager. Upon arrival in Santo Domingo, the company was in full development. I directed, together with the General Manager the construction of the terminal. Once constructed the company imported asphalt by ship to dispatch to local road builders. My job was to keep the terminal running and making sure the cargo was ready at all times to dispatch.

  • December 2001 ~ August 2003 - Seaboard Marine Ltd., Miami, Florida

Seaboard Marine is a maritime container company, active in the Caribbean, Central and South America. I enjoyed a familiarization with the company in Miami after which I was send to Port au Prince as their Owner's Representative, to deal with customer needs and as Terminal Manager to take care of the daily operations of their terminal, involving mainly ship operations and cargo handling.

  • May ~ September 2001 - Van Ameyde Belgium N.V.

Position held: Maritime Surveyor. I worked a brief period for this Antwerp based company, specialized in the field of maritime cargo surveys. In and around the port of Antwerp this company is called to use their loss adjusters and surveyors.

  • 1992 ~ 2001 - Tecto Nv. Belgium

Position held: Sea Going Career. Sailed for Tecto Nv on Exmar Nv vessels as Apprentice Officer until 2nd Mate on Oil/Product, LNG and LPG tankers and on OBO's. Extensive experience on tankers.
